Mastering Greek through Cultural Learning

The program of Greek Language and Culture Studies is designed to help foreign-born individuals who are planning to live permanently or reside for an extended period in Greece, educators, academics, scientists, clergy, proficient Greek Language Learners, and others who seek a deeper understanding of Greek society.


Facilitated mostly in Greek, each course provides an interdisciplinary exploration and analysis of language and culture by studying current and historical evolutions of social stratification, social mobility, and social change. 


Learning objectives are focused on the development and refinement of Greek Language proficiency skills. By means of immersion, grammatical knowledge and vocabulary expansion are accomplished through a wide variety of interactive writing, speaking and listening activities.

The Greek Language and Culture curriculum is guided by established standards and practices, including the Model Curriculum for World Languages and the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages which address the need to prepare all Greek Language Learners to become valuable citizens globally.
